AT 209 Lab 11- Intelligent Flight Mode
This weeks lab had us experimenting with the intelligent flight modes offered by the DJI Mavic 2 Pro. We chose to use the ActiveTrack 2.0 and Circle Quickshot modes to demonstrate.
ActiveTrack 2.0 allows you to identify a subject, such as a person. The aircraft adjusts its flight to track the subject and no external tracking device is required.
The Circle Quickshot allows you to select a subject and have the drone circle around the subject.
Weather: 45 Degrees Fahrenheit, Overcast, 15-20 mph winds.
Site Conditions: Open grass field, mostly free of people except for 2 workers
Potential Hazards: PTF workers present, strong enough winds to be a potentially hazardous factor
Authorizations:
LAANC with an altitude ceiling @ 200 ft.

The intelligent flight modes are pretty easy to set up. We started with the Quickshot Circle. First, we launched the drone. I then selected the Intelligent Flight mode option, and selected quickshot, followed by the circle option. Once this mode is selected, I used my finger to draw a box around the subject we chose. Initially, we chose a power box and started the program, however I realized that some trees in close proximity could be problematic as the radius of the circle was larger than I expected, so we changed the subject to a Weather Installation that offered much more open area around it. We were also able to choose the direction of rotatio, choosing to go with counterclockwise.

We took 2 videos of the box. The first one messed up on the tracking, so we did another which turned out much better.

The ActiveTrack mode was also very simple. You just have to select the mode, select your target, and press record.
